Do Auras Continue if You Log Off in Rs3

A player with an aura equipped

An aura is an item that can (with a few exceptions) be bought as part of the Members Loyalty Programme. Activated auras can be purely cosmetic, offer a combat bonus, or be used to activate a special effect. An aura can be activated by using the "Activate" option in the Aura Management interface. When activated, a glow will appear around the player's right hand.

Auras can be purchased from Xuan, Dilwyn, or Solomon's General Store. Players can find Xuan in the north-east corner of Burthorpe, east of Burthorpe Castle, and in Varrock Square. Dilwyn can be found in the Tower of Voices south-west of the Prifddinas lodestone.

Mechanics [edit | edit source]

A player activating an aura

Each aura offers a temporary effect which cannot be paused. Removing an aura will stop the effect and reduce the remaining time to zero. The remaining time can be checked by right-clicking an equipped aura and clicking 'Aura time remaining'. Also, if the account using an aura is logged out while the aura is activated, the timer will continue to run out.

The aura effects only continue after a player dies if they die in an area where items remain equipped after death. For example: Clan Wars.

After use, an aura must go through a cooldown period before being used again. The cooldown period's length is specified by the particular aura. The cooldown period continues when the player is logged out. If an aura is removed or deactivated prematurely, the remaining duration of the aura is added to the cooldown period. For example, if the "Reverence" aura (1 hour activation and 3 hour cooldown) is removed immediately after activation, the cooldown will state 4 hours before the aura can be reactivated. This is because auras actually start to cool down as soon as they are used (which is why the cooldown seems longer for prematurely deactivated auras).

Auras are untradeable, and most cannot be used in PvP activities. As they are items, they also cannot be brought into Daemonheim (excluding the Daemonheim aura and the Festive aura) or some minigames like Stealing Creation, nor can the Aura Management be opened during those activities.

Tiers [edit | edit source]

Auras are classified in five different tiers, which are indicated by the red circles in the ring of the aura with tier five having a cyan background around the icon, and all 4 circles lit up. It is not possible to buy an aura of a higher tier without first having the corresponding lower tier auras, if they exist. The first tier four aura, Aegis, was released on 11 December 2011. The first tier five auras were released on 27 January 2014.

Once an upgraded version of an aura has been bought, there is no way to access a lower tier.

Cosmetic auras [edit | edit source]

Unlike other auras, cosmetic auras only affect the appearance of a player. Cosmetic auras are not actually items in game; they are cosmetic overrides.

The eight gaze auras that can be bought from Solomon's General Store make a character's eyes glow with various colours.

During it the vampyrism aura was discounted by 50%, the reckless, maniacal, berserker, and dark magic auras were discounted by 30%, and all of the remaining normal tier four and five auras were discounted by 25%.

Trivia [edit | edit source]

  • On the day of release of the second batch of auras, all of the Greater auras used the image of their tier one counterpart in the Knowledge Base.
  • On the day of release, Greater quarrymaster said "5%", but was changed to "3%" in the Knowledge Base the next day. This is strange due to the normal version of Quarrymaster also being 3%.
  • When used in combination with the Abyssal whip, the glow creates what looks like magical runes along the top portion while held.
  • For a few days after release the aura would float in the air without the player animation if activated while cooking.
  • If one were to rest while an aura is active, the glow on one's hand would not show.
  • When completing the Nature Spirit's grotto event in Temple Trekking the aura remains blue. It can be fixed by wearing different armour, but if you wear the same armour it returns to blue. It is only visible to the player with the aura.
  • When targeted by Nex's blood sacrifice, the aura remains red.
  • When targeted by the Kalphite King's acid bite, the aura remains green.
  • Currently, there is a glitch where your aura randomly activates for apparently no reason, without using any charge, and regardless of whether it is charged or still recharging. Taking your aura off will end the effect early.
  • According to Xuan, auras are carved from the bones of magical beasts in foreign lands by the age-worn hands of mystics. The magic in the bones then flows through the carving to focus power upon the player's hand or weapon. This may be a reference to the Eastern lands, where Xuan is said to have come from. This is because the Eastern lands are based on ancient Asia, which in turn had ancient Chinese medicines where rare animal bones were used to supposedly cure and strengthen people.
  • There was a glitch in the Dominion Tower, where if you are using an aura with a dominion sword and the sword disintegrates, the aura will remain there until you equip a new weapon. This glitch has been fixed.
  • Xuan says auras are worn on the hand, yet they are not visible unless activated.
  • If you destroy an aura that is ready to use, it will remain ready to use when reclaimed from Xuan. If you destroy it while it's on cooldown, the aura will be ready to use after the regular cooldown period when reclaimed regardless of the cooldown time remaining when it was destroyed. Before an update on 17 October 2016 a reclaimed aura would always be ready only after the duration of the aura plus the regular cooldown period.
  • With all Gaze auras, when performing any action, your eyes will go back to normal. Your chathead also does not display the aura's effect.
  • To buy all of the auras listed on this page, it would cost the player 3,239,000 Loyalty Points which would require 106 months (8.83 years) of consecutive membership (not including bonus points from events or Premier Membership Packages).
